We’re so excited to be offering Bibliocrunch and Learn Self-Publishing Fast readers a $10 discount to the Publishers Weekly BookLife Prize. The prize is open to self-published authors ONLY. The winner receives a cash prize of $5,000 as well as a profile in Publishers Weekly.
We had a chance to ask Carl Pritzkat a few questions about the prize and how it came to be.

1) What is the BookLife Prize?
The BookLife Prize is a program where authors can enter self-published and unpublished books and manuscripts for a $5,000 cash prize and have Publishers Weekly reviewers give them a publishable assessment of their works.
2) How did you come up with the idea for the BookLife Prize?
We wanted to give indie authors an affordable way to receive professional feedback about their books and manuscripts, and we wanted to give the best entries exposure to Publishers Weekly’s audience of publishers, agents, booksellers, librarians and Hollywood scouts.
3) Why should an emerging indie author submit their book?
First off, every entry receives an assessment from a Publishers Weekly reviewer. Authors can use these assessments to promote their books. Second, the higher scoring entries are highlighted on the BookLife.com website, the semi-finalists are highlighted in Publishers Weekly, the finalists are profiled in Publishers Weekly, and the grand prize winner, besides winning $5,000, is featured in Publishers Weekly.
4) Which categories does the BookLife Prize cover?
Romance/Erotica; Mystery/Thriller; Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror; General Fiction; Memoir/Autobiography; YA Fiction; and Middle-Grade Fiction.
5) Who can submit to the prize?
Anyone can submit. If the book has been published, it needs to have been self-published. We accept unpublished manuscripts as well. There is a maximum 100,000 word limit for entries.
